Senior Mechanical Engineer – Various Projects, Glasgow Based

Wood Process & Energy have an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with Static and / or Rotating Equipment expertise to join our growing division on a permanent basis in Glasgow. The role will ensure key support and discipline expertise across various major Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Renewables and Hydrogen projects.

 

The opportunity offers a high profile position in our Mechanical Engineering function to be part of a significant growth group with ambitious plans, providing key support to operational plant as part of an integrated multi-discipline team on larger projects.

 

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Deliver the mechanical engineering project scope of work to our clients. 
  • Prepare material requisitions for a range of Static, Rotating and Package equipment.
  • Provide technical support to Engineering studies such as design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, and Constructability reviews.
  • Occasionally develop calculations to support engineering solutions.
  • Take a lead in resolving technical issues across multiple disciplines, driving the technical solutions to completion.
  • Checking of vendor calculations against design code and best practice.
  • Build strong Client relations to ensure expectations are met.
  • Management of workload and budgets across designated work scopes to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Understand, review and comment on process design data to ensure appropriate equipment specification and selection.
  • Review Suppliers quotations and prepare technical quotation evaluation.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to develop the best solution for our Clients.
  • Review of vendor documentation requirements for use and integration within project.
  • Manage project documentation effectively, ensuring all disciplines receive the quality information at the right time.
  • Rigorously review post order vendor documentation.
  • Correspond with the Vendor on technical matters and ensure that action is taken where necessary.
  • Drive post order activities to completion.

Skills / Qualifications

 

  • Degree qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, chartered status is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of IT Packages such as Finglow, PV Elite, HTRI would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of or previous experience of working with industry standard codes, e.g. API 610, API 617, API 618, API 675, ASME VIII & PD5500 would also be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience of working with various clients and vendors.
  • Industry experience within Refinery, Energy, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas etc 
  • Experience of Vendor co-ordination meetings and supporting engineering design reviews.
  • Flexible attitude with proven experience of effective working in a project team environment.
  • Computer literate with common software packages such as Microsoft Office.
