Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Digital Twin  / 3DV Systems Lead to support Wood's digital asset and digital twin projects. The role will support both our clients and internal team, acting as our subject matter expert in 3DV toolsets and systems, including AVEVA engineering and design systems (E3D/PDMS) and Hexagon digital twin systems (Hexagon SDx). 


The role location is flexible and can be UK based with virtual working. Ability to travel to our Aberdeen and Glasgow offices if required is preferrable.


Their responsibilities will include: 

  • Leading Digital Twin and 3DV System projects
  • Defining requirements to ensure full alignment with our clients when proposing digital, data or 3DV solutions
  • Providing support and guidance to client's with reference to their current and future digital, data and 3DV needs
  • Defining scopes for new and / or improved systems, toolsets, processes and workflows in the digital twin space
  • Developing and supporting plans for data improvement and migration, including managing and supporting identified gaps in data quality


The successful candidate will:

  • Seek to gain, share and reuse their knowledge, experience and best practice within the 3DV space
  • Be proactive in suggesting industry best practice (aligned to legislative requirements), good process and governance methodologies, and highlighting any issues or concerns
  • Provide governance and over-sight of all aspects of 3DV and digital twin systems delivery
  • Ensure a consistent approach to 3DV digital twin systems delivery, through the appliance of standardised strategy, tools, processes, and procedures
  • Provide stewardship and technical leadership for the 3DV System digital twin systems delivery team
  • Provide input to the development and maintenance of the 3DV and digital twin strategy, procedures and reporting
  • Provide governance to client data models and to ensure a level of consistency and approach in their ongoing management
  • Be innovative in their thinking around what clients can use their 3DV and digital twins to achieve, including value in terms of financial, environmental and safety


They should also:

  • Understand Digital Asset delivery, including building a pathway to a digital asset and then maintaining the data integrity therein
  • Understand 3DV toolsets, including photogrammetry, point cloud data, mesh and be able to confidently provide user cases aligned to value
  • Be able to link and understand IM practices in relation to 3DV and digital twins, model updates and management of change in an engineering and production environment

Skills / Qualifications

Essential skills:

  • Good working knowledge of engineering, operational and vendor data sets
  • Knowledge of engineering information management systems and platforms
  • Knowledge of engineering document and data control processes
  • Knowledge of 3DV systems and digital asset technologies and interfaces, specifically AVEVA engineering and design systems (E3D/PDMS) and Hexagon digital twin systems (Hexagon SDx)
  • Experience in leading digital asset projects
  • Experience of digitised data collection
  • Demonstrable administration skills and project planning experience
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines


Minimum Experience: 

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in relevant subject
  • Experience in engineering data and information management environment
  • Experience in client facing position
  • Demonstrable appropriate experience at relevant level and position (lead role)
