Principal Process Engineer

Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will act as a focal point and shall be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing a major segment or technical aspect of the engineering related activities within a project.

Responsibilities

• Provides process engineering expertise to the client who is highly capable of leading a high performing process engineering team as a focal point on the design of a major project.
• Provides process engineering services to the client, ranging from conceptual, front-end, detailed design and close-out activities for the timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Monitor and control manhour budgets against the project plan
• Completes a variety of complex process engineering studies, philosophies, computations, calculations, HYSYS and UniSim simulation (steady & dynamic) modelling, P&ID’s, PFD’s, heat and material balances, etc
• Participates in all hazard identification, technical safety and risk workshop reviews
• Must be familiar with relevant codes, client Design Specifications and procedures, and have a thorough working knowledge of the latest design and analytical techniques

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential
• Ability to build and sustain customer relationships
• Conveys a professional image with customers
• Familiar with applicable industry codes and processes
• Should have over 12 years of post-graduate experience, with 9 years in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industries, including 3 years as Senior Engineer
• Prior experience on ammonia nitrate as well as carbon capture projects highly regarded
• Experience generating engineering estimates and quotations
• Liaison with the other disciplines, clients’ engineering and production personnel to ensure consistent basis for all input parameters
• Prior experience in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL/LOPA, MAE workshops
• Prior experience with HYSYS and UniSim
• Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise critical path deliverables
• Relevant Engineering Degree (eligible for membership to Engineers Australia)
• Registered Professional Engineer (Victoria) preferred but not mandatory
