Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Scaffolding Supervisor to join our construction team. 

 

  • Very good knowledge on inspection of scaffolding activities in accordance with written specifications.
  • Review and understand the requirement of the project scafolding Specifications, ITPs, QCPs, MS etc.
  • Review regularly Quality Records, Contractor’s Procedures, Contracts and Estimation Documents for the scafolding requirements.
  • Provide technical supports to company and contractors QC personnel as required.
  • Liaison with others Department Heads, Customers, and the Third Parties on the scafolding matters.
  • Prepare punch list items, ensuring they are being resolved according to the turnover system.
  • Reviews and assesses Contractor/Subcontractor QA/QC Plans and Procedures including Inspection results.
  • Promotes safety awareness and safe performance among Production group, including Contractor personnel.
  • Witness and monitor Contractor/Subcontractor site surveillance on scafolding  activities.
  • Reports to the construction Manager or Department Head and prepare Daily, Weekly & Monthly site report, highlighting weekly progress of scaffolding works, accomplishments and issues that affect project progress
  • Assess the integrity of scaffold erected regulary during the exxcution of project.
  • Ensure that all construction contractors’ supervision and manpower are instructed and comply with all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) policy, site regulations, permit to work procedures and instructions and Client requirements
  • Ensure that contractors working within his discipline adhere strictly to the latest Approved for Construction project drawings, Specifications, ITP’s, Procedures and Site Instructions
  • Responsible for the HSES and quality aspects of the work within assigned areas and for ensuring contractors complete their work in accordance with the project schedule
  • Review and monitor the  specifications, job instructions, material deliveries and tools applicable to his / her discipline and area of work
  • Work with the contractors’ supervision, planning engineers and the Construction Engineer, develop detailed daily and weekly work plans in accordance with the overall planning schedule
  • Inform the Discipline Superintendent on specific areas where the program needs to be adjusted in accordance with site conditions and material deliveries
  • Monitor the discipline and timekeeping of contractors’ staff and labor in a defined work area, identifying any disciplinary action required, and informing the relevant Discipline Superintendent
  • Prioritize field execution sequence and resources when conflict arises.
  • Manage available resources well, optimally and demonstrate a high level of resourcefulness.
  • Accept or reject the quality of work & goods provided by contractors/vendors. Monitor to ensure all quality control checks and tests are instigated, with records maintained and available as required.
  • Coordinate all mechanical completion and turnover activities to enable system completion are not impeded by scafold access requirement
  • Planned scafold removal in accordation to the work completion and handover requirement.

LEVEL OF INFLUENCE & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

  • Prior to work execution conduct assurance check that all temporary works, supports, heavy lifts, transportation etc. are properly designed and checked by authorized engineers and the relevant authorities
  • Ensure that construction risk assessments are carried out, hazards are eliminated and or minimized where possible and personnel, environment, and property, are suitably protected with any residual risks communicated to those likely to be exposed to the hazard.
  • Review and agree with contractor management the required site area organization and MPP for the scope with consideration given to the changing requirements throughout construction phases to turnover and ensuring the team organization contains and maintain the competency level on the relevant practical, technical experience and compatibility
  • Participate in audit the planning of the construction work has enough detail to enable job front activities to be fully identified and resourced and work can be monitored and safely executed. Ensure all audit findings are promptly closed out
  • Assist client to organize, administer and control site area activities in accordance with the relevant legislation (includes WHSA), Singapore & MOM Regulations, Wood and Client requirements
  • Ensure that Client Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) and Quality policies are understood and implemented by all supervised staff and project contractors

Skills / Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management is preferred. Experience via assignments or supervisory responsibility in most areas, including field engineering, project control, quality control, administration of contracts and subcontracts, craft supervision, field superintendence, safety, labor relations, maintenance, turnarounds and outages, commissioning and other applicable positions and function

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the methods, practices, crafts, tools, equipment, codes, documents, drawings, specifications, requirements, functions and control systems of the engineering and construction business

  • Overall, a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the process and/or utility/power construction industry

 

Personal attributes:

 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit and stand in the office and move about the work area. In addition, it may require close vision work and travel away from home, sometimes for extended periods
  • The position requires the ability to walk about a construction site or operating plant or power station and the ability to climb stairs or ladders and walk on elevated plant platforms
  • The position requires the ability to wear and use personal protective equipment while in the work area of the jobsite, including helmet, fall protection harness, respirator, safety glasses/goggles, escape breathing device, noise protection, fire-retardant coveralls and protective work boots and gloves
