Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an Intern for Subcontracts department in our Madrid office.


Wood is looking for students interested in accessing the professional world through external academic internships and offers the possibility to put into practice and expand the knowledge acquired during their academic career.


Students will get the opportunity to enter in the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas industry as we look to develop your background in conceptual engineering studies, pre-FEED, FEED, EPC and PMC projects.


The role is offered to fit in with study timetables and course obligations.


The selected candidate(s) will cooperate assisting and directly performing - under the mentorship of senior colleagues - specific tasks as follows: 

  • Operate in accordance with appropriate and current corporate execution procedures and Project Specific Procedures
  • Ensure all subcontracts activities are carried out in accordance with the project execution plan/schedule and/or contracting strategy
  • Carry out the prequalification activities coordinating the input from other disciplines as appropriate and prepare qualification report and list of tenderers form for approval
  • Cooperate in the preparation of contract enquiry documentation
  • Carrying out quantity surveying duties when required and preparation of price lists
  • Analyzed contract clauses and cooperate in preparation of responses to subcontractor’s claims and letters related with contract scope

Skills / Qualifications

  • Last academic year or master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or similar Degree
  • Academic situation that allows signing an agreement with a university or training center
  • Availability in the morning (daily dedication depending on the academic situation)
  • Spanish language at native level
  • Excellent command of English
  • Advanced in Office Package (mainly Excel)
  • Able to manage own time and ability to prioritize at busy times
  • Creative and practical
  • Adaptable and persevering
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Engineering within the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environments
  • Good communication skills
