Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are currently looking for a Senior Pipeline Designer to join our team in Reading on a 6 month agency basis.

  • Prepare pre-FEED, FEED and detailed engineering drawings for onshore and offshore oil and gas flowlines, trunk lines and pipelines
  • Review and apply Site Topographical Survey drawings and data
  • Develop overall routing maps and layouts, plot plans, pipeline alignment sheets, LUP (Land Used Permission), plants and pig trap stations approach drawings, pipeline ROW sections, pipeline trench sections and other  Project specific details
  • Develop typical drawings for  Launchers and Receivers, Line Valve Stations, tie-in sections and cathodic protection details,
  • Develop typical crossing drawings for highways, asphalt roads, railways, camel roads, wadis, third party pipelines, UG cables and overhead lines
  • Develop detailed drawings for crossings including use of trenchless technologies
  • Review pipeline drawings, plot plans, alignment sheets, piping layouts prepared by other offices or third parties including  vendor relevant drawings
  • Familiar with pipeline detail engineering standards, including spacing requirements, accessibility, operation, maintenance, crossings and right of way (ROW)
  • Familiar with the relevant International Standards, and able to learn and understand client’s standards and specifications
  • Carry out study and design work using Wood and client design methods, standards and data, to a high quality and in accordance with project requirements
  • Ensure that Wood and Client’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are complied
  • Provide assistance to other disciplines and participate in review meetings (if requested), in accordance with project requirements
  • Support internal development and continuous improvement activities as required

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Engineering is preferred
  • Relevant experience in upstream and downstream oil and gas projects
  • Preferred experience in an onshore pipeline environment within the Upstream and Downstream Industry, including Middle East experience
  • Able to work in FEED environment as well as in detailed design
  • Proved experience in AutoCAD is required
  • Knowledge and experience in Maps preparation using Google Earth Pro is required
  • GIS experience is preferred
  • Experience in Micro station is preferred
