Overview / Responsibilities

This position acts as the Operations Director representing Wood in Europe & Africa in the Life Sciences & Circular Economy sectors. The individual will report directly into the Senior Vice President of the Downstream business and be responsible for the development and delivery of the business plan by demonstrating proactive leadership to drive high performance across operational, financial and safety metrics. To be successful the individual must be self motivated and have strong commercial knowledge and experience of working within the both the life sciences and circular economy sectors to enable them to lead the growth into the wider market. The individual will ideally demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence and collaborative skills to work across Wood’s different service lines. 

 

Key focus is on:

  • Overall profit and loss accountability delivery of annual revenue and EBITDA budget
  • Development and delivery of strategic growth plans for expansion of existing business and the establishment of new opportunities within the Life Sciences & Circular Economy sectors
  • Driving the growth and delivery of services, linking with other colleagues to support bids and tenders as appropriate

The role provides direction and leadership for the achievement of strategic goals, vision and shared values through: finance, risk management, change leadership, people and culture, stakeholder management, governance, assurance, compliance, and reputation.

 

Services that are to be provided within the Life Sciences & Circular Economy sectors include;

  • Consulting Services
  • Engineering (Concept, FEED, Detailed Engineering)
  • Projects EPC / EPCm
  • Frameworks
  • Turn Arounds
  • Maintenance Services

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Scientific Discipline and/or related technical field OR degree qualified in a commercial/business discipline with significant experience in a technical organisation
  • Recognised and accredited management qualification

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A track record delivering a portfolio of greater than GBP 100M per annum, within the Life Sciences and Circular Economy sectors whilst managing multiple customers / stakeholders
  • Extensive demonstratable experience of successful operational and strategic delivery within the Life Sciences and Circular Economy sectors
  • Broad and deep understanding of the within the Life Sciences and Circular Economy sectors and strong networking and relationship building capability
  • Experience of client facing communication
  • Strong relevant technical expertise or commercial/business management applied in a technical organisation
  • Knowledge of current HSSEA and other legislation as applicable in the industry
  • Business awareness and commercial acumen to contribute to the competitive advantage of the business
