Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Field Engineer to join our team in Brunei. The project will run over a five - year period with a possible two - year extension. Wood has many years of experience in carrying such projects all over the world and it is our intention to bring our world class systems to this project.

You will be expected to work in a multidiscipline team environment where the overall success of the project is paramount. Wood is looking at a right first - time approach and as such, we are looking for candidates who can rise to a challenge and are interested in being part of an innovative and driven team.

  • Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental, and quality priorities and values throughout the Project
  • Review of Construction Work Packages (during onshore compilation in readiness for offshore execution) in planning, working, and closure
  • Review / interpret design drawings for constructability
  • Provide clarifications of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents as necessary to support Construction
  • Provides technical assistance to the Piping Supervisor and Superintendent and keep them informed on matters relating to quality and quality control
  • Performs coordination and communications with Design Engineering to resolve technical problems
    Initiates, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of design changes
  • General coordination with multiple groups across jobsite (design, QC, subcontractors, etc.)
  • Support the Piping Supervisor and Superintendent in resolving issues related to applicable piping installations and activities
  • Update Work Packages and / or create additional steps for appropriate changes
  • Initiating, reviewing, implementing, and / or dispositioning change requests such as Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Nonconformance Reports, Conditioned Reports, and other technical documentation
  • In - process and Final Inspections of Mechanical components and communicating the readiness for Final Inspection with QC
  • Acquiring and maintaining as - built information for installations
  • Request material transfers and / or material verification from warehouses
  • Report weekly on installed piping / mechanical quantities and status
  • Performing field walk - downs and inspections to review work for conformance with design requirements, applicable codes / standards, and project procedures
  • Assists in Coordinating inspections, testing and completion of Inspection Testing Records.
  • Updating schedulers / project controls of work completed
  • Reviews the project schedule and works with the applicable Supervisor and Superintendent, and supports work implementation as required
  • Review and revise project procedures as required
  • Cross discipline review of design documents and interface with client, vendor, and other disciplines as required
  • Attend all job-related meetings as required
  • Conduct meetings with Project Engineers, Onshore Construction Management, Shutdown Coordinator, Offshore Supervision and Operations to set priorities and schedule definition

Skills / Qualifications

  • A recognized degree or equivalent experience or qualification in a relevant branch of engineering and a member of an internationally recognized professional Institution
  • 10 years’ experience in similar role with at least 5 years in offshore oil and gas industry including experience in a major offshore project
  • Conversant with the work pack process, including familiarity with TRA, Peer Reviews, HAZID's / ENVID's, COSHH processes
  • Experienced in the production of detailed and accurate reports, technical queries, material requisitions and all other work pack related documents
  • Good knowledge of Oil & Gas related SHEQ working practices and procedures
  • Experience in Construction Management, Project Management, and / or supervision
  • Complex or Equivalent Hazardous Area Training
