Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Telecoms Technician, for a new build offshore FPSO project located in the East Mediterranean.

 

We are supporting the development of an offshore field to support bringing gas to the market by 2021. The development of the fields shall be undertaken using a new-build, spread-moored gas FPSO unit to process gas and associated liquids from subsea wells.  Dry pipeline spec gas will be produced and piped through a gas export line to an onshore facility while the recoverable liquids will be tandem offloaded into tankers from the FPSO.  The final subsea infrastructure will include three development wells.

 

The project will support with the preparation, start up and subsequent operation and maintenance of the deepwater gas development.

 

The position will initially be based in Singapore with ad hoc travel or rotational to East Mediterranean until mid 2021.

 

The Telecoms Technician role will carry out planned preventative, remedial and breakdown maintenance on telecoms and associated equipment in accordance with company’s maintenance management system.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABLILTIES:

 

Yard Phase:

  • Reporting to on shift Operations Team Lead.
  • Actively participating in embedding Company's values and culture into the team and identifying any areas that are deficient so that improvements can be made.
  • On site assessment of the systems to ensure operability will be acceptable with and deficiencies identified in a timely manner to enable resolution or mitigation.
  • Embedded into the TFMC PCC team to drive forward the commissioning activities and immediately highlight to Company any gaps or shortfalls so that they can be addressed where possible or where not that the risks are suitably well understood.
  • Carry out telecoms’ maintenance and installation activities.
  • Identification and procurement of telecom maintenance team equipment (personal and workshop).
  • Identification and ratification of spare parts and equipment required and planning suitable storage locations on-board.
  • Review and take ownership of special telecom and it equipment delivered with packages to make sure that nothing goes missing.
  • Monitoring of the build quality and immediate highlighting to OIM of any identified shortfalls or omissions which could affect forward operations. Compilation of telecom punch list items which will be shared with the team for resolution.
  • Ensuring comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew changes.
  • Working with project teams as part of the system walk downs, punch listing and handover.
  • On site walk troughs and dry runs of the system telecom operating manuals to make sure that they are fit for purpose and accurate.
  • On site reviews of the equipment maintainability and assessment of equipment handling solutions to make sure that they are fit for purpose.
  • Prepare for the transition to safe systems of work at sailaway to ensure that Company's duty of care if fulfilled.
  • Review and comment on vendor information and, where required, take part in inspection and testing.
  • Complete preventative and remedial maintenance in accordance with TMax schedule and work instructions, with emphasis on safety critical activities.
  • Participation in ensuring that preservation activities are completed to a high standard to make sure that equipment is ready to operate when on location with minimal delay.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all platform equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed promptly.
  • Participate and actively encourage fostering of a ONE TEAM approach for the crew and third party contractors staff that will be part of the core team make up.

Operational:

  • Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner and carry out and apply effective fault finding and investigation techniques.
  • Complete preventative and remedial maintenance in accordance with TMax schedule and work instructions, with emphasis on safety critical activities.
  • Participation in ensuring that preservation activities are completed to a high standard to make sure that equipment is ready to operate when on location with minimal delay.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all platform equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed promptly.
  • Carry out and participate in Root Cause Analysis to improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensure comprehensive work history is recorded in TMax and any follow up work and material required is identified.
  • Install telecoms and IT equipment in liaison with company IS Department.
  • Carry out Radio Operator duties where required.
  • Responsible for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) all IT equipment, telecoms test equipment, entertainment equipment.
  • Ensure comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew change.
  • Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency in cost or time without loss of integrity and present idea(s) to relevant management.
  • Support and improve team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Participate in Wood competence scheme including any multi skilled role in accordance with the relevant competence framework.
  • Adopt a flexible working attitude to provide support across all departments to ensure team success.
  • Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify and minimise interpersonal conflict.
  • Report immediately any identified unsafe acts or conditions using the company’s procedures, e.g. STOP, Near Miss Report, Unsafe Condition Report, HART card, etc.
  • Maintain effective communication with all work colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and be able to apply it in the workplace.
  • In all cases looking out for Company's best interests.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant recognised apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Degree \ HNC qualified or equivalent.
  • GDMSS Restricted.
  • CAA Licence.
  • Current COMPEX Certification.
  • BOSIET / Medical / MIST training.
  • Emergency Response Team Training.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Extensive experience in the field of Instrument & Control maintenance engineering support in the oil and gas industry.
  • Portable Applicance Testing.
  • LV Authorisation in accordance with TLM 015.
  • TMax Training.
  • Maximo 7.5 WMS Training.
  •  

PC Application Skills:

  • Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, Maximo.
