Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Instrument Designer for our Mining & Minerals office in Bryanston.   Main Purpose of Role   Produce control & instrumentation documents and drawings in accordance with accepted engineering and company design procedures.  Reports to the Project C&I Engineer.    Role Specific Responsibilities - Produce and approve air distribution schedules and indicate positions of air manifolds on plot plans. - Design the instrument cable block diagrams. - Produce cable drum schedules. - Produce the design guidelines for the cable racking / routing drawings. - Produce a cable schedule from the cable block diagram and project specifications / standards. - Produce, review and approve sketches for control room and equipment room layouts. - Develop the instrument design index based on EFD’s and Instrument Index. - Produce hand sketches of earthing philosophy diagrams, based on engineering input. - Using the instrument database and project specifications / standards, produce guidelines for the instrument hook-up drawings. - Using the instrument database and project specifications / standards, produce guidelines for the instrument installation detail drawings. - Produce, review and approve instrument location drawings based on the instrument database, EFD’s and plant layout drawings. - Produce 2D drawings using AutoCad. - Develop / provide input on the 3D Model to clarify instrument requirements on the model inclusive of cable racking, junction boxes, air headers and field instrument placements. - Produce instrument loop diagrams and termination schedules utilising AVEVA or In-Tools or COMOS (or similar). - Produce hand drawn power distribution diagrams. - Provide panel layout detail drawings. - Incorporate instrument supplier data received into instrument design database, termination schedules and loop diagrams. - Review mechanical / instrumentation interface drawings. - Review electrical / instrumentation interface drawings. - Maintain the instrument design database and drawing register in a current project state. - Assist in the preparation of the Instrument contract indirect BOM. - Liaise with engineers to ensure design intent is implemented. - Resolve site queries relative to the instrument design, obtain redline markups and backdraft documents to As-built status. - Assist in the preparation of Instrument ‘End of Job’ documentation.

Photoshop, InDesign and Powerpoint are also employed for both design and presentation materials.   Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for supporting the design team in the production of drawings, graphics and documents for both project work and in support of business development.  Work will need to be produced to deadlines and quality standards defined by the design task manager.    Training will be provided in the particular requirements of the different design disciplines.  The role requires good time management and the ability to work accurately under pressure.

Wood is looking at a right first - time approach and as such, we are looking for candidates who can rise to a challenge and are interested in being part of an innovative and driven team.   - Coordinate the preparation of construction work packs for onshore procurement, fabrication, and offshore construction activities in line with rejuvenation campaign schedule requirements - Schedule the preparation of job cards, construction drawings and documentation, materials requisitioning by liaising with engineering, operations, and support services as required - Review design engineers' output for completeness and clarity of intent, liaise with discipline engineers / TAs for the development of work orders / packs, major / minor plant changes and repairs - Maintain an overview of the campaign workpack status in the associated WMS systems and provide progress updates to the integrated planning engineer - Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the BSP and Wood standards and in line with industry standards and good engineering practices - Responsible for the accuracy of job card estimations and obtaining agreement on additional norms requirements - Support the development of construction aids and lifting designs, sketches and establish all multi - discipline data required to complete the work - Support the adoption of a fit - for - purpose approach and seek design approval to ensure design intent is achieved - Plan and manage resources to meet maintenance, RO, and project workpack development as per campaign and project schedules - Take ownership of campaign RO & work packing plans, closely tracking daily progress, and preparing in advance recovery plans for any delays - Monitor and highlight in good time any constraints in workpack development, propose and recommend solutions - Ensure Health & Safety Responsibilities are adhered to and understood, and review Task Risk Assessments and ISSOW PTWs for all workpack scopes - Establish a relationship and liaise with operations focal points to ensure execution methodology is understood and aligned with operating codes - Liaise with the RO / Workpack Team Leader to agree schedule for issue of workpack deliverables
