The Role: Chief Estimator Offshore
The successful candidate will have strong estimating experience within O&G project environment and in particular a strong background in Offshore and Brownfield Projects.
- To be responsible, as and when required for the Estimating of complete projects of all classes by application of recognised norms and databases.
- To liaise during the Estimating phase between various members of the engineering department, Project Management and construction disciplines to establish continuity and consistency.
- Review specifications, drawings, and attend meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Ability and experience to both Lead and contribute to all aspects of Estimates including Class 2, knowledge of the detail of MTO’s and unit rates, factored approaches and use of systems such as ACCE.
- Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
- Have experience of preparing OPEX and ABEX estimates
- To assemble and present a professional estimate with the tools and systems available.
- Monitor and review with Manager, Contract Estimating the performance, potential and training requirements of all Estimating Engineers. Conduct employee appraisals as delegated by Manager, Contract Estimating. Delegate employee appraisals to Principal Estimators where considered appropriate.
- Continuously review the systems and work practices for estimating and recommend to Manager, Contract Estimating appropriate improvements including technical investigations/development.
- Ensure that project feedback is properly analysed by all Estimating Engineers to assess the accuracy and consistency of ongoing estimating activity.
- Ensure that department statistics and historical data is maintained including extraction of estimate factors.
- Manage all capital cost estimates to ensure technical quality by:
- Reviewing estimate methodology statement (if required) prior to issue for comment to the project/client. Obtain approval by Manager, Estimating for target price and LSTK estimates.
- Reviewing estimate execution schedule and resourcing requirements prepared by the nominated estimator prior to issue for comment to the project/client. Obtain approval from Manager, Estimating for target price and LSTK estimates. Based on schedule, monitor estimate progress
- Ensuring Principal Estimators coordinate with Project Manager and other Departments to ensure all required technical and commercial input to the estimate is obtained.
- Ensure good communications/flow of information between Principal Estimators and Discipline Estimators are maintained throughout the estimate preparation.
- Reviewing estimate, including estimate notes and all other documentation as required for Departmental, Project Management, Executive Management and Client reviews.
- Carrying out detailed estimate department reviews and attend project, executive management and client reviews as requested/delegated by Manager, Contract Estimating.
- Ensure manpower schedules for all capital cost estimates are available for departmental monthly workload meeting.
- Provide a summary of status on all contract estimates for department weekly report

Wood is currently recruiting for a Subcontracts Specialist to join our team in the Melbourne Office. Reporting to the Subcontracts Lead, you will perform a full range of subcontracting activities from preparation and evaluation of tenders, placing Purchase Orders, post award administration, approving invoices and close out.
Responsibilities
- Managing the pre-contract process of bidder qualification, preparation and administration of tenders, tender evaluation, terms an condition negotiation & award of various types of subcontracts
- Perform post award administration including; kick off meeting, manage communications between the business and subcontractor, recording and raising call off orders, claims review and settlement, invoice review, and other associated activities through to close out
- Conduct commercial audits of subcontractors
- Liaising with various internal customers across multiple projects

- Responsible for the development schedule to indicate specific milestones agreed upon in the Contract
- Responsible for the development and delivery of the resource loaded, robust baseline project schedules
- Produce of all project plans and associated documents (“S” curves, Histograms, tabulated man hour / progress data)
- Prepare the required weekly and monthly progress reports for the project
- Provide analysis of the progress and schedule performance including productivity and critical path
- Provide the Project Team with the relevant planning and reporting information
- Ensure that all services and deliverables conform to Company, Client and Protect QA Plan, policies requirements and standards
- Periodically updating schedules to include scope changes, latest progress and delivery information
- Assisting with development of change notifications by highlighting impact on schedule and assist with related tracking and re-baselining effort
- Obtaining deliverables and drawing lists and updates from disciplines and distribute compiled reports
- Ensure that, at all times, the project team are fully aware of The Project targets
- Provide forecast for recovery to the plan where required
- Promote good working relationship within the Project Controls Teams and other project departments and client representatives
- Ensure all planning work is carried out in compliance with Corporate and Project specific procedures

Wood is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Support Engineer with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry. For a fixed term period of 12-18 months.
Job Objective
- Supports delivery of engineering excellence in their assigned project(s) through coordinating and delivering the engineering for an assigned project scope(s) to schedule and in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, and standards
- Coordinates a series of activities performed by engineers and designers from one or more engineering disciplines to support the timely issuing of engineering deliverables to meet project specifications
- Monitors and supports compliance with quality, HSE and assurance standards
- Undertakes basic schedule preparation, planning and resource forecasting for engineering activities relating to the project
- Ensures accurate and timely delivery of work, to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers
- Alerts Project Manager in the event of potential delays or change; supports implementation of approved changes
- Coordinates and assures technical excellence of interdisciplinary project deliverables
- Maintenance and or construction commissioning experience would be adventageiou
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Coordinates discipline input to deliverables including Process/Utility Flow Diagrams, Engineering Flow Diagrams and, Line Lists, Equipment Lists, Special Piping Item Lists and Requisition Index.
- Able to coordinate input of a single engineering discipline within more than one office location Quality, HSE and Assurance
- Develops a working knowledge of engineering standards and procedures; participates in key events gaining practical experience
- Checks Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) implementation by review against standards, procedures, work practices and literature
- Prepares straightforward project specific procedures under guidance. Development and management of schedule
- Plans individual work activities and manages time; liaises with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments
- Fully understand the requirements of the project schedule and hold regular reviews
- Expedite Engineers to deliver to schedule, fully understand reasons for delay and assist in developing recovery plans
- Alerts more senior project engineering personnel in the event of potential delays or change Design Verification
