Wood is recruiting for a Measurement Technician to join its Asset Management and Operational Services (AMOS) group within our Renewables division based in Glasgow.   The role will be based at the Glasgow office with on-site working across the UK and internationally both onshore and offshore as required. Join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients.   The Role The Measurement Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of wind measurement equipment that are fixed to meteorological towers which can be up to 150m tall.   A significant part of the role will be out in the field and involve climbing the towers to deliver the required service. However, the technician will also be required to spend some time in the workshop to repair equipment that has been taken in and to prepare for upcoming project requirements. They will also be responsible for preparing method statements and risk assessments for upcoming work and providing reports on the data acquired from the equipment.   The role will also include contributing to our wind turbine power performance testing (PPT) projects around the world, involving hands-on experience - both at base and on site - with meteorological masts, lidar and turbine power measurement systems. It is an excellent opportunity to work across different wind turbine makes, models and technology (on- and offshore), help develop bespoke monitoring systems and travel internationally to diverse wind farm sites and landscapes. Wood carries out PPT projects under UKAS accreditation, and applies rigorous requirements to project delivery. The technician will often work as part of a small team to ensure delivery of wind measurement projects across a portfolio of clients in the UK and internationally.   From time to time, it will also be possible to contribute to our other services, such as witnessing factory and harbour acceptance tests as part of our floating lidar technical advisory team, or commissioning wind turbine condition monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a hands-on electro mechanical technician role, with a great aptitude for solving mechanical and electrical technical problems.
