The Role:
We are recruiting for a Project Lead Inspector to work in our Reading office on a variety of global energy projects. This is a Staff position to join our growing Supply Chain team.
The role is to establish the Inspection strategy, procedures and communication channels on project, with regard to Supplier Inspections, ensuring alignment with the project and procurement execution plans. To achieve delivery of compliant material to site for construction and to the satisfaction of agreed client requirements.
This is a lead role with a focus on client interface, delegation of work to Inspection Coordinators in Reading UK, Lead Inspector and Inspection Coordinators at the General Execution Centre in Chennai India, and further including hands on inspection coordination activities to meet project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage team of Inspection Coordinators on the project. Effective coordination of supplier inspection activities within the project to which the Project Lead Inspector has been assigned
- The timely inspection of tagged equipment and bulk materials according to the levels and frequency or surveillance prescribed by the engineering department in the material requisition
- Ensure that all work undertaken is accomplished in compliance with Wood code of conduct, ethics and corporate policies
- Ensure that project inspection procedures are prepared and maintained for the project
- Present the approved project inspection strategy to project teams and suppliers as required
- Prepare an maintain inspection plans for tagged equipment and bulk items. Plan and monitor any requirements for equipment stage inspections
- Plan all inspection visits on weekly itinerary and ensure that inspection visits are properly coordinated with other Wood entities clients other inspection authorities, agencies and suppliers as applicable. Obtain any required approvals for this as required
- Chair or participate in pre inspection meetings. Follow-up and closure of actions

We require different disciplines to compliment the team including Mechanical, Instrument or Electrical Engineering or Maintenance Trades. Ideally you would be based in Perth, however you may also be based in Melbourne or Brisbane Wood offices.
In this role you will report to the Team Lead, working primarily on project work packages and campaigns that will draw on your interpersonal and collaboration skills to deliver the described scope.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Standardise maintenance and reliability approach across projects
- Align and implement maintenance and reliability techniques to improve asset performance
- Working with clients to identifying opportunities for improvement in maintenance efficiency, reliability & performance
- Optimise maintenance plans by package / system / delivery in support of production objectives
- Prepare and facilitate maintenance and reliability workshops, and Root Cause Analysis sessions, with various stakeholders
- Critically analyse assets to determine sparing requirements and inventory optimisation
- Optimise warehouse strategies to realise value for the stakeholders
- Leverage large-scale data analytics and machine learning tools to provide additional value and efficiency in the delivery of the above maintenance and inventory optimisation
- Lead small teams in delivery of specific client studies and projects aligned with the above
